The Loving Mother
-A story from Hokkaido, Japan
Mr Shoji Sakota is a pharmacist in the city of Sappora in Hokkaido, Japan. He had his own drug store in the same building, where he lives. He lives alone in the front part of the building. His wife had died several years earlier. One stormy winter night in 1964 A.D, he was working in his own room at about midnight because it was the end of the fiscal year, he was very busy with the trading accounts, profit/loss accounts and balance sheet accounts of the whole year. At that time, someone knocked on his door. At first, he avoided it because it was so midnight, but the knocking again repeated continuously. At last, he opened the door thinking that somebody has come for urgent medicine. When he opened the door he saw It was a woman who wanted an anime (Japanese candy ) on a stick for her baby. She said to him her baby is crying so much and she also forgot to bye ame in the evening. Mr Sakota was quite surprised after seeing that lady because the lady was buying sweets at that time which was almost 12 'o clock at night. He was very much surprised by her appearance. She was so strange that her hair was messy, uncombed, untidy and her eyes were quite was so strange that her eyes looked like she was from another planet.
The lady went from Mr Sakota's shop. Mr Sakota could not forget her appearance and at last, he stopped working and went to the bed thinking about that strange lady. On the next night, the same woman came in the same time as early night and again she asked him for an ame. Mr Sakota was very much worried about that, so on the next day, he invited his friend with whom he shared his worries. The friend was a photographer. So, they planned to snap the picture of the lady if she came the next night.
Again the next night, the same lady came at the same time and with the same demand. The photographer friend was hiding in the shop. He snapped as many pictures as he can of the lady from different angles. But, when the photographs came in the next day, they were quite surprised to find that all things were present in the photograph but not that lady. Then the two friends decided to follow her next time if she came.
The next night also, the lady arrived at the same time and with the same demand. When she left the shop, the two friends followed her quietly. The lady knows that they were following her. Actually, her intention was to follow them with her. Finally, they reached a room in an old building. In the room, the lady was already disappeared when two friends reached the room of the old building. They found a baby sucking or licking an ame and the woman appeared to be sleeping there in the bed. When they tried to wake up the lady, they realized that she was already dead and they felt that she had been dead already for several days.
Finally, the conclusion of the story is that after the lady's death, the lady's soul was worried about her child. She not only wanted to arrange for food for her but also wanted someone to come and know that she had been dead and her child was in a helpless situation. She also wanted to be her child with someone who has a really kind heart. She had chosen Mr Sakota for this situation.
